Why IaC?
- Manual provisioning (creating new instances) of services is ineffective. Adding new elements of an IT infrastructure using a GUI (point and click) or a nonstandard manually run scripts is slow, prone to mistakes, unscalable and hard to audit.
- Faster software update delivery requires a large amount of administrative work and may be prone to configuration errors in test and acceptance environments. It results in a false evaluation of software operation in the target production environment.
- Proper execution of the change management process is not ensured, i.e. it often ends up with declarative documentation of the process without providing tools to make it happen and be observed.
