We are thrilled to announce that SUSE, a global leader in innovative open-source solutions for enterprises, including operating systems and tools for managing and monitoring Kubernetes clusters, is one of the main sponsors of this year’s edition of the Open Source Day conference, which will take place on April 18, 2024, in Warsaw.

As part of its commitment to the conference, SUSE will present a variety of valuable content, including a keynote address by Gerald Pfeifer, Chief Technology Officer and President of the openSUSE project.

Gerald Pfeifer is a recognized expert in the IT industry, known for his extensive contributions to the development of open-source software. His long history began with involvement in community projects such as the GNU Compiler Collection and Wine. Then, until 2019, as Vice President of Products and Technology Programs at SUSE, he led the transformation of the portfolio, introducing products such as Kubernetes-based container platforms to the market. Currently, as CTO at SUSE, he leverages his expertise in technological and business aspects of open-source software to shape the company’s technological vision. His experience and openness to innovation will undoubtedly enrich the discussion on the future of open-source technology.

Moreover, conference attendees will have the opportunity to take part in parallel sessions that will shed light on key aspects of managing and securing Kubernetes-based environments:

1. Practical examples of implementing GitOps concepts in Kubernetes cluster environments managed by SUSE Rancher software and its integrated Fleet tool – “GitOps for Scale”.

2. How to secure the entire Kubernetes environment and prevent hacking?

During this session, SUSE engineers will demonstrate how even a small vulnerability in a web application can lead to the takeover of an entire Kubernetes cluster. Participants will learn about different attack vectors and protection methods at every stage of the software delivery chain and in the application runtime environment.
